When it comes to insuring a race car, there are two basic types of coverage: the kind that is purchased by track owners and event coordinators, and the kind that is purchased by car owners and drivers.
What Is Covered?
Track insurance, the kind that is purchased by those who sponsor and manage races, covers injuries to the spectators, damage to the track, stands, and buildings, , and incidents in the parking lot. It may include liability coverage for non-driving employees, as well. It can be purchased either annually, or on a per-event basis.
The car insurance quotes you are more likely to encounter are those for drivers and racecar owners (who may or may not be the same person). These policies are designed to protect the car and driver when traveling to and from a race, and when the car is stored on racetrack property. Generally such policies include:
· Coverage for the tow-trailer, and all contents, including equipment such as spare parts and tools needed to make repairs.
· Coverage for the car itself, in case of damage (except during a race) and / or theft, including when the car is stored in the paddock

Ian Rae, Senior Drag Race Editor of RPM Magazine is pleased to announce another Must Do event for the upcoming Extreme Drag Race Shootout being held at Miramichi Dragway over the weekend of August 1-3.

Rae explained, "Our Editor, Chris Biro and I sat down a few weeks ago and we were talking about all the things to do at the Extreme Drag Race Shootout Event when we came up with the idea of holding a Racing Photos 101 seminar on the Friday night of the event. Mike Kolne, known as the Master of dragstrip track surface preparation from coast to coast, will be in Miramichi in 2008 at the Extreme Drag Race Shootout along with his two sons to work their magic.

"You know last year I worked at 19 or so different events in two countries but this race in Miramichi is the one I am most excited about", explained Mike Kolne from his York. Ontario home this week.  "I love all drag racing with my heart and soul, but I gotta say that the street cars and doorslammers blow my mind.  We will be there, and we'll do the best we know how to give the racers of the EDRS the best track surface that we can.  The funny part is that I think I can only bring one of my sons along which has caused a bit of an upset.  But he laid it on the line and said that if I didn't take him he wouldn't work for me on another track; I guess he means business!"
